Freedom Academy was born from a deep longing — not just for a different kind of education, but for a return to what truly matters: faith, family, character, and curiosity.
For six years, I taught in the public school system. I loved my students and cherished the moments when their eyes lit up with discovery. But over time, I felt the joy of teaching being slowly chipped away.
Classrooms were full — and so were the expectations. Academic standards rose, while developmentally appropriate practices fell away. I saw more screen time and less time outdoors, more testing and less time for play. And most of all, I saw how behavioral issues dominated the day, leaving little room for true learning.
Many children were struggling — emotionally, socially, and spiritually — and yet, my hands were tied. Discipline has become a dirty word. Structure and accountability were fading. And slowly, it became clear: I wasn’t able to teach the way I was called to. The heart behind education — the joy, the wonder, the purpose — was slipping away.
That’s when the seed was planted. I began to pray. To dream. To plan.
And I wasn’t alone.
My mom — the other founder of Freedom Academy — had also been a teacher, and now as a grandmother, she was seeing the same things unfold through her grandchildren’s eyes. She longed for something better for them: a place where truth was honored, childhood was protected, and each child was known and loved.
Together, we imagined a school that felt more like a family. A place where children could grow in confidence, character, and faith — not in spite of school, but because of it.
That vision became Freedom Academy — a back-to-basics, hands-on, faith-filled school for children in Massachusetts.
Through play, wonder, and joyful discovery.
In character, in confidence, and in faith.
With purpose, truth, and love.
We opened our doors with a mission: to raise up young children who are rooted, resilient, and ready to flourish — in school, in life, and in faith.
We’re small. We’re family-led. And we believe this is just the beginning of something beautiful.
